BIO
As an arts consultant with expertise in fundraising, strategic planning, project management, theater, classical music and public media, I offer arts organizations both short- and long-term fractional leadership or project management.
Most recently, as the Chief Content Officer and Senior Vice President of WQXR at New York Public Radio, I led a $30 million line of business, managing the station’s operating budget and revenues from across NYPR’s diversified base of members, donors, and advertisers. My tenure focused on developing younger audiences for classical music, partnering with its community’s arts organizations and building a new portfolio of podcasts.
Before WQXR, I was President and CEO of American Composers Orchestra (ACO). Under my leadership, ACO strengthened its mission to commission, perform, promote, and celebrate orchestral music by American composers. I led a strategic planning process that focused on partnerships, composer recruitment and a more expansive performance venue strategy. As a result, the organization was able to erase an accumulated deficit and improve fundraising by 20% over three years.
I have been honored to work at several of the nation’s most significant music organizations, including the New York Philharmonic, New York City Opera, and The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association.
I still enjoy choral singing, going to as many performances as I can, and walking my dog Huck in Central Park.
WHAT SETS ME APART?
With experience in a variety of positions across the performing arts, I offer real-life experiences as an executive arts leader. I have:
created seasons and festivals for major orchestras and opera companies
commissioned award-winning work and productions
represented and advised individual artists and composers as an artist manager
balanced budgets and developed philanthropic support as the CEO of a small but dynamic music organization
run one of the largest public classical music services in the country, working at the intersection of digital media, radio and audience building
I maintain and constantly grow my international network of funders, creators, performers, presenters and producers, drawing on them to bring global best practices and perspective to your organization.
I understand that innovation is not always a flash of brilliance. Throughout my career, I have learned how to marry imagination and vision to commitment, risk assessment, testing, iteration, sustainability and hard work.
I value organizational culture. New projects, new fundraising campaigns and dynamic programming are opportunities for renewed focus, alignment and transparency. In every project, I look for opportunities to bring organizations together by connecting to the passion for delivering on a mission.
